Mike is a solid grey-haired sixty-four year-old. He was a teacher in Zambia for 9 years. I told him how I used to read my Bible, every day, religiously.
Ah. That word. Religiously. If it's done religiously, "there's no life in it."
The Pharisees were religious. Jesus called the scribes and Pharisees hypocrites because they were like whitewashed tombs that look beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of dead people's bones and everything abhorrent. This is the religion that is death! They observed and made rules and regulations but they didn't have hearts...
However, when religion means loving God and your neighbour - when it means trusting him that tiny bit you can - then it is life.
Of course it all depends on how you define religion. I suspect some will think you mean the church, or even, gasp, God, but others, like me, will say Amen and cheer.
I find myself uneasily religious. I go to church, I love the community of believers I am in, and of course God is number one...but religion? I need to google it.

Wow. That's a pretty strong statement. I"m assuming that's a quote from him, not your sentiments? I'm confused.
The word religion has two meanings.

Alrighty. Just making sure that the distinction was made.
