I really hated having my sketch criticised and made better by all the other writers - my pride bruised, I rang my mum. She's a writer, and she said that all the good stuff like M.A.S.H. and E.R. are done with a team of writers. So, going along with the improvements (they were), we got laughs for almost every sentence (with the exception of a gag about being left by my wife). So, through the pain, I have grown in respect both for the other writers (Jack esp, who had the nerve to say that one of my jokes wasn't funny!) and for teamwork. (I'll be lifting phrases from this for my MTAS form).
I really liked spending a whole day with these comedy hunters, dreaming up dance routines and playing YMCA another time, getting Tom to lock my bike to his again, wondering how on earth he is still smiling... I liked having a Christmas Pie from Pie Minister and eating it from a cardboard box. I liked taking a walking backpack of sound equipment all over Oxford. I liked on of the Surgeons saying how pleased she was that it was as short as it was. I really liked the other writers' stuff...'Twas the Morning of Surgery," "MRCS," and "Surgeons are a girl's best friend." I physically hurt myself in laughing so hard at seeing Kath give up her search for one of the surgeons while standing directly in front of him.
Played drums at church on Sunday. One day, perhaps I will play in time!!! It was great to worship with my spiritual family. How Good God is......He made the world, we turned away from him, he gave us teaching, we turned away from him, he turned his anger away from us and Jesus took it on Himself. From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky, Christ is within us. We go with him to those who don't know him, still. And one day he will remake the world. Oh Lord. Come Lord, come.
This afternoon I mostly dazed in and out of consciousness while my brothers and sisters played games and chatted in various locations in Oxford. Now I'm back home, I had a lovely sausage supper with my bros Oliver, Chris, Rich and my sis Sara.
