Ed Moran suggests an example of pride: 'I can do anything I put my mind to.' Here's another: 'I am better than them.' It's a deep-down low-down down-right awful way to be.

Eric Clapton declares: "I have finally found a way to live in the Presence of the Lord." He went to school 15 minutes from my home, went to Art college, 15 minutes from my home, busked, 15 minutes from my home. It's so easy to think that I could be like that too...so tempting to decide that I will be great...so juicy...

It's easier to dream when it's just about glory. Instead, you can have fear. It's like 'cake or death.' A patient today said that when they were discussing her cancer she felt that it was like being offered a menu, 'chemotherapy or death.' She said something like, 'I'll have the Omlette.'

So I hear that illustrator of Gray's anatomy (the original textbook) was a medical student and realise how far I am from the assumed glory of me. What a shame. Instead, the glory of the Lord...being with the Great One...the True Lord...and I, a beloved and fragile vessel of his peace and treasure: God saves.
